Clean Water
The Scenario
As survivors of the zombie apocalypse, you need access to a good supply of clean, potable water. In order to survive, you need to design and create a system to purify water with the lowest energy input available. You must research different methods of treating water and present the best option to the community of survivors. Your presentation will need to convince them that your chosen method meets their needs and is safe, cost-effective, sustainable.
You must discover what it will take to provide water for the community and ensure that it will survive. You are tasked with researching the best method of supply clean, safe, potable water and present your findings to the community. During a presentation of learning we will present our ideas to the community inside and outside of school so that we can decide on the best method available to us so that we can being construction as soon as possible.

Driving Question
How can we create a potable water solution for an off-the-grid community or survivors?
Water is a basic necessity of life. Adult humans need about 2 L of water per day, though there is variability depending on temperature, climate, or activity.
We use water in all our cells, organs, and tissues to help regulate its temperature and maintain other bodily functions. Because our bodies loses water through breathing, sweating, and digestion, it's important to rehydrate by drinking fluids and eating foods that contain water.

The Options
Below you will find six options for water purification. In small groups, you will research each option and complete the comparison chart. Each group will explain how their system of water purification functions and the scientific theories behind the process. Each group will then present their method of water purification to the community.
